SM Sta. Rosa hosts Kitchen Masters : THE Battle of Chefs and Apprentices
Moms and food enthusiasts alike all love a great cooking show, where a chef or a team of chefs are going to take the heat in the kitchen. In the case of Kitchen Masters, not only are they battling things out on who's got the tastier food, but the ultimate goal is to showcase known Laguna ingredients as their focus. Kitchen Masters is expected to be a battle of culinary skills and strategies.
Last Monday, the cook off battle dubbed as Kitchen Masters was formally launched at SM City Sta Rosa. Five Laguna-based chefs face each other in a culinary competition built around specific theme ingredients.
The door of learning opens for budding chefs as each Chef will take on apprentices to help them prepare 3 dishes (appetizer, pasta and salad) highlighting respective ingredients from Laguna ---Itik, Kesong Puti and Paco. Each chef is given two assistants, who are supposedly culinary arts students of Malayan Colleges Laguna (MCL).
This same contest is quite beneficial to the apprentices of MCL, as they will be offered mentorship by some of the best chefs living in Laguna.
The culinary teams are expected to step up to this cooking challenge based on the following criteria:
Professional Serving Methods 50 points
Taste 40 points
Teamwork 10 points
The teams are:
Chef Karen Nina Villaflor
Chef Karen finished culinary arts and baking at Global City Innovative College. Chef Karen works as a Sous Chef at Buttero, an Italian and Bistro at Taguig City for the last 2 years.
Chef Cherriza Canlas Filamor
Chef Cherriza is the Proprietor of Eat Creative Catering Service. She supervises and motivates artists, dining and kitchen staff to provide organized service to customers. She earned her Grand Diploma in Professional Culinary Arts and Baking Pastry Arts at Global Culinary and Hospitality Academy.
Chef Emmanuel Recio
Chef Emmanuel is the owner of Le Chef Emmanuel French and Italian Cuisine located at Sta. Cruz, Laguna. He worked at Madeleine French Bakery and Brasserie in Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is a BS Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate and holds a certificate for NC-II Culinary Arts Major in Bread and Pastry.
Chef Von Byron Ebron
Chef Von is the Head Chef and Operations Manager of Bonitos Bar and Restaurant. He is also the Head Chef of Amorita Buffet Restaurant and Events Place. He also serves as the Corporate Secretary of the Red Brick House.
Chef Roel Rodrigo
Chef Roel is currently an Assistant Professor at Malayan Colleges Laguna. He handles professional subjects on Business Research, Banquet and Catering operations, and Food and Beverage Control System ,among others. He graduated Cum Laude in Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the University of Sto. Tomas
Watch out for the winning team as the Kitchen Masters battle culminates this April 17 at SM City Sta Rosa.
I love food so I enjoyed this post. Kitchen masters seem to be similar to a show that I watch called Masterchef. As you said, moms love a cooking show. There is a lot to learn. They always cook so fast even though they are apprentices learning. I wish there was a way to download the recipes in order to be able to make the food the exact same way.
