ABaKaDa: Himig + Titik | Art and Interior Design helping the Community

Final Poster

**POST UPDATED Nov. 12, 2016**

Interior Design incorporates the aspect of community and design into one entity by means of innovation, creativity and inclusivity. Through the creative interpretation of our traditional Filipino Nursery rhymes, the pioneer Interior Design graduating batch of De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde launches it's capstone project, ABaKaDa: Himig + Titik.

The said Interior Design graduating batch of DLS- CSB had a renovation project for four day care centers in Manila, to support the dream of a better community, through the children.

The barangays partnered with DLS-CSB’s Center for Social Action, they embraced and took action to build a strong and unique bond with the CSB students through these different daycare centers. Each design was uniquely conceptualized from the nostalgia and cultural essence of traditional Filipino nursery rhymes, all infused with the learning strategies efficient today.

Instead of the usual interior design exhibit, the students of DLS-CSB tells the story and documentation of how they started, from the roots of the day care rooms to its flourishing improvement. The exhibit leads you into that journey of transformation, unveiling its secrets through a display of photographs, video presentations, and its primary highlight—physical miniature models of each daycare center’s finished and current appearance.

To be honest, when I saw how pretty their new classrooms are, I wish that my kid's classrooms are also this pretty so that they will be more inspired to go to school and learn and create new friends. A pretty, and learning environment is sure to make a student feel more energized for learning! :D

  1. I am more than proud! Other than it's my alma mater but what they did was pretty amazing to the kids there. What they did really suits the classrooms; I totally love it! I'm sure the kids will learn quickly due to the colors of their room. :)
