Must Have Essentials for Fishing
While the only fishing I do is in Final Fantasy XV, I do know that it is quite a relaxing sport even in real life. And if you need to de-stress and relax, fishing is one hobby you can count on. If you are a first timer though and want to get started on fishing, here's a complete list of possible fishing gear you might need that will put you on the right path for bringing fish to the shore. Or your stove. *wink wink*
Fishing Spots
Before you get started, think of the location. This tactic can help you learn where to fish and acquire relevant knowledge on the different species that live in the area. Furthermore, it can give you an idea of the most effective baits and lures to use. Once you’ve researched and considered a location, here are other few things to take along:
The Perfect Gear
A basic gear of an angler includes:
- a fishing rod
- reel
- tackle box
- line
- baits
Artificial lures are ready to fish right out of the box, however, if you opt for organic bait such as worms and minnows, then you’ll be needing hooks, sinkers, corks, and swivels. Take note that the hook and line intended for freshwater panfish is significantly different from that used for saltwater king mackerel. That's because you have to take consideration the strength of the fish vs. the reel, line and rod that you have on you.
Sunscreen
Because when you’re fishing, you’re going to be under the sun all day (in Final Fantasy XV though, it can go on for up to the night!). To prevent your skin from being damaged, slather on some sunscreen. Simply keep it in your tackle box, so you won’t forget it.
Waterproof Bag
Waterproof bags are really a big essential, so that our things won't get wet, especially as a case for our phones, wallet, keys, and other valuables. When fishing, there’s a tendency you’d get wet even when you don’t intend to.Polarized Sunwear
This specific type of sunglasses is popular among anglers and fishermen. Polarized sunglasses are made to be able to help you see in situations where glare may be a problem. The glare from the water can affect your vision but with the help of polarized lenses, it blocks the light that is reflected off of a flat surface. Consequently, you’d be able to see through the reflection and be able to catch more fish and maneuver the water safely.
Pliers and Hemostats
It can be difficult to remove a hook from a fish’s mouth; thus, you’d be needing hemostats and pliers. They work differently-- hemostats work well for small game fish while needle-nose pliers are applicable for large and stubbornly-hooked fish.
And while these items listed are intended for fishing, they are also great for your usual travel to the beach trips with long drives or if you just wanna soak up all that sun on the shore. After all, on a sunny day, sunblock and a good pair of polarized sunglasses for perfect, non obtrusive vision are the perfect warriors to protect you from the harmful rays of the sun!
