Summer Cruise and Diving: San Luis Batangas Rates, Rooms and Experience
A weekend getaway of relaxation, Scuba diving or free diving and rooms for less than 2000 pesos? Summer Cruise is the place for you!
Summer Cruise and Diving Batangas
Summer Cruise is a sea and nature diving resort and getaway located around 3 hours away from Manila, in San Luis, Batangas. They've been up and running since 1993, with focus on Scuba Diving and Free Diving on a budget. San Luis, Batangas itself is best known for their colorful reefs. One of the protected marine areas in Batangas is situated here. Hence, it is one of the ideal places to go for divers and freedivers alike. Be it day tour or an overnight stay, they got you covered!
What to do in Summer Cruise?
This place is a haven for divers, but it is also kid friendly! Some of the activities you can do here are:- Take a SWIM in their pools
They have a tiled swimming pool that is about 4ish feet deep. It's usually used for diving classes, and is filled with saltwater. You can take a swim here though if there are no people taking their introductory class. It's not that deep, but I still rented some life vests for my kiddos. The life vests cost only 50 pesos.
- Snorkel, Free Dive or Scuba!
There are already lots of corals right in front of summer cruise if you're thinking of snorkeling with the kids. Or you can try out diving for yourself there!
- Dive to the Marine Hotspots (Binukbok and Ligpo Cave)
Check out our full Summer Cruise Scuba Diving Experience HERE
- Island Hop!
There's a nearby beach you can go to if ever you still wanna feel the sand on your toes. Just contact Kuya Joel on the number below this post and ask him to bring you to the nearest beach if you're up for it. Prices for these vary, but it is usually at 600 Php to 1000 Php, Minimum of 3 Persons
- Go Fishing!
- Read, relax and take photos!
They have a lot of hammocks and seats in the area, and every space in my opinion is IG worthy cause they're all so colorful and fun. Even at night! And after taking photos, you can go and rest in their hammocks, or read. Now, if you brought a book or some comics with you, that's awesome! They also have a shelf full of japanese manga that you can borrow. If you can't read japanese though, you can just use google translate too. *wink wink*
- View the sunset and Stargazing
The place is perfect for viewing the sunset. And on a clear night with less clouds, it's great for stargazing. It kind of brought me back to my childhood when there was less light pollution and you can see A LOT of stars in the sky. It's not something you usually see in the city, so if you visit here, make sure to look up and see the stars!
Rooms and Rates
They have tents set up for the extra adventurous, and they have 4 types of available rooms here. You will be spending less than 1000 Php if you book your room on a weekday cause rates are way cheaper then instead of a week end. Summer Cruise is on a 'first come first serve basis'. This is because they have a limited number of rooms available. Make sure to contact them ahead of time for reservation of a specific room.Weekday rates of the Island Room, Aqua Room and Coral Rooms are at 985 Php/ night. The three rooms have a similar ambiance of light, airy bahay kubo feels with a couple of slight differences.
- Aqua Room weekend rate is at 1,500 Php.
- Coral Room's weekend rate is at 1,600 php.
- Island Room's weekend rate is at 1,700 Php.
This is their bigger room which has 1 queen size bed, 1 single bed, and 1 ceiling fan. You have your balcony to view the sunset. And you also get a hot and cold private shower and toilet.
This is where we stayed. It was cool enough with the sea breeze and the fan that there was no actual need of an air con to be honest. I also love the fact that there's this balcony from where you can see the nice sunset or the beachfront.
- Bay Room has a steady rate of 1,300 Php for weekday or weekend.
It is pretty colorful outside with this Greek or Mediterranean ambiance, and inside you're awarded with a really relaxing room. Situated on the ground floor, this room has 1 double bed, a desk fan, and an aircon. You will be using the shared toilet and shower.
As stated in their website, room rates are good for 2 pax. Extra person per room will have extra charge. Don't forget to bring your toiletries like shampoo, soaps, toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers. They do have towels and toilet paper but that's it.
- Tents
Saturday night – Php. 500.00 per head
Inclusive of entrance fee, mattress and pillow
(Breakfast not included)
Kitchen Rates and Food Menu
They have a kitchen you can rent. So if you wanna bring food with you that's alright. They have a fridge in the kitchen where you can store your ulam if need be. You just have to pay 200 Php for food and drinks corkage, as well as 300 Php for the use of the kitchens during your stay.
If you're like us who just made shotgun moves and wasn't prepared much... Well, they also serve lots of yummy Japanese-Pinoy style food. Aside from your usual silogs that is. Here's some of what we ate and their menu:
Clockwise you have: Bangus with Rice (150 Php), Kaarage (100 Php), Yakisoba (140 Php), Katsudon(200 Php) |
Above we ordered gyoza and some chicken ramen. Another rmust try is their Gyudon, which is so good that I wasn't able to get a photo.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
Bring your own snacks. While there's a sari sari store nearby, it's a 10 minuite walk, and I would imagine that it's closed at night.Having an extension cord is always handy- you never know when you might need extra ports for your chargers.
Bring tumblers or reusable bottles so that you don't have to make more waste with plastic bottles. They also have complimentary water and coffee so you're good on the water department.
Bring extra dry bags, plastic bag or eco bag that you can reuse for your wet clothes, and for segregating your used and unused clothes. The extra plastic bags is also great for your other trash.
And don't leave trash on the shore. There are a lot of trash cans in the area. Let's not litter cause it won't be good for the marine life that's there.
How to go to Summer Cruise
We went here via private car, but you also have the option to commute! Here's the routes:- Usual SLEX Route to Star Toll, and take Lipa Exit.
- Enter in your google maps/ waze Summer Cruise Diving, San Luis, and it should show you a couple of routes like taking the Bauan- San Luis Road, or the one that takes you to Tagaytay- Nasugbu Highway and then folowing the roads to San Luis.
- Drive straight to Brgy. Balite.
- IMPORTANT: look for the signages "Binukbok parking A or B" or Summer Cruise parking A or B" at the right. DO NOT GO BEYOND THE BASKETBALL COURT of the baranngay.
- Parking rates would cost 150 Php for overnight, and 100 Php for a day tour.
- Contact Summer Cruise or Kai to have someone pick you up from the parking area.
Via Commute, you can
- take a DLTB or JAM bus with the sign “LEMERY” from Buendia, Cubao or South Station Alabang.
- Ask if they're going to drop off at Xentro Mall, Lemery
- From Xentro Mall or Lemery Terminal, ride a tricycle to Brgy. Balite in San Luis which costs P150 for 3 or 4 persons estimate.
- Go down at Parking A of Summer Cruise / Binukbok parking
From here, you can walk for 100 meters (around 10 minutes) to the resort. You will be passing through some houses and a strip of rocky beach side along the way. If you have kids like me, I recommend taking their boat which costs for 50 pesos one way.

PS: Thank you so much to Summer Cruise for the accommodating stay and diving activity! While I was invited to stay, as usual, all thoughts and opinions are 100% true to my experience and are all my own.
Overall, the place is rustic and yet full of life with the colors, the people are really accomodating and sweet, and the prices for their services are really bang for your buck! Sobrang sulit- especially the rooms and the scuba or freediving activities that all cost below 2000 pesos.
I'm really happy that I got to experience Summer Cruise and Diving with my family- before the whole veerus fiasco started. And yes, I am definitely going back here once things settle down. I really hope for it to be soon.
How about you, where's your first stop once it's safe to finally go out?

ReplyDeleteGreat review! Aside from their modest prices, I think what's especially attractive about the whole place are the underwater activities. Snorkeling is super fun and a great way to "get in touch" with our sea cousins, haha! Great photos too, by the way, and plus points for covering EVERYTHING we'd ever need to get there!
ReplyDeleteThs is such a perfect place to spend your days off and vacation! Very afforadable ang rooms and so nice ang accomodation. I live in Cavite so I might give it a try after this pandemic is over!
