Celebrating Chinese New Year the Savoy Hotel Manila Way
The Spring Festival or Chinese New Year is a well loved occasion and celebrated by Filipinos and Chinese- Filipinos alike. Deeply rooted in centuries old traditions, it holds a special place in the hearts of the Filipino-Chinese community, symbolizing not just the turn of the lunar calendar, the ushering in of prosperity, health, and good fortune but also togetherness in recent years.
This January, my family and I had a pre-Lunar new year celebration at Savoy Hotel Manila. As we stepped into the lobby, festive red lanterns already greeted us. If you're also looking for a place to celebrate Chinese New Year in a fun way, Savoy definitely has that fun, vibrant vibe that you would want.
A Prosperous and Restful Staycation in the Metro
We kicked off our Savoy Hotel Manila staycation with their “A Prosperous Start” room package, which includes a rejuvenating overnight stay in a Classic Room, a complimentary “Lucky Bowl of Delights”, filled with treats like ube hopia and some tikoy to usher in fortune and happiness for the year ahead., plus breakfast buffet for two. The room package also includes a 15% discount on all à la carte meals at Savoy Café & Poolside Bar (exclusive of alcoholic beverages) and 15% discount on all spa services.

The overnight stay starts at PHP 5,300 for a classic room with a booking period of January 14 to February 28, and a stay period of from January 14 to March 5, 2025. But you can also have this package for any of their other rooms.
While I got invited to try out the said room package in their Deck Suite, I have always loved the style and comfort of the rooms that are offered by Savoy Hotel Manila. Our previous stay before this, not sponsored, was usually with a classic room of theirs and I really love their beds, the calming room style that they have and the view of the planes taking off and landing out your window.
Irresistible new flavors at Savoy Cafe
I am always floored with the culinary delights at Savoy Hotel Manila. You can opt for a weekend dinner buffet at Savoy, with a couple of Chinese dishes available in line with the Lunar New Year. We did this to celebrate our wedding anniversary that night, and had an awesome time at their weekend dinner buffet as we sampled a little bit of everything.
For the month's festivities, they launched a special menu that features the beloved Chinoy culture with mouthwatering items like Nanking Beef Stew Noodle Soup, Stir-Fried Nanking Beef Noodles, Stir-Fried Soy hicken Noodles, Soy Chicken Noodle Soup, Stir-Fried Bam-I Noodles, and their Dimsum Delights: Pork & Shrimp Siomai, Steamed Chicken Feet and Cheung Fun Rice Rolls.

These are gonna be mainstays in their menu. I especially loved the Pork & Shrimp Siomai, Nanking Beef Stew Noodle Soup that had a deep flavor of umami and tender beef, and Stir-Fried Nanking Beef Noodles that pairs well with their dimsums and Lechon Kawali.
PS: Also grab their featured drink, the Yin and Yang. It felt much like a mix of cola float and a cold glass of butterbeer in Universal for my and my kid's tastes. Definitely a must try- even if you're just gonna meet up someone at their Zabana Bar or Savoy Cafe.
Fun and Vibrant Festivities with a Dragon Dance
You can skip the street chaos this Chinese New Year and head to Savoy Hotel Manila for tradition and a feast all in one place. On January 29, 2025, at the auspicious time of 10:08 AM, the hotel lobby will come alive with the vibrant Dragon and Lion Dance.
This colorful performance is all about spreading good luck, prosperity, and great vibes. After soaking in the energy, you can yourself to the Chinese New Year Lunch Buffet at Savoy Café. From dumplings and noodles to roasted meats and decadent desserts, this spread promises to satisfy every craving.

Our recent time at Savoy Hotel Manila was an experience that blended cultural traditions with family togetherness. Throughout our stay, the warm hospitality of the Savoy staff made us feel right at home. This pre-celebration of the Chinese New Year with our staycation was a perfect way to create lasting memories with my loved ones, and I encourage everyone to experience the magic of Chinese New Year at Savoy Hotel Manila!
