Politics, global warming among social issues tackled at recent R2R event
The Real to Reel Competition, organized by Pioneer Insurance, culminated in a cinema screening and an awards ceremony that celebrated the creativity and vision of its young participants.
This event provided a platform for Gen Z filmmakers to showcase their artistic abilities while addressing pressing social issues from their unique perspectives. Among the prominent themes tackled were politics and global warming, both of which were creatively explored by the participants.
The winning entry, "Ang Panawagan ni Googly", cleverly addressed climate change through the lens of a used plastic container named “Googly,” offering a unique representation of environmental concerns. Other entries focused on politics, a timely subject as elections approach, as well as mental health and other social issues.
With esteemed judges from the film industry, alongside Mr. Lorenzo Chan, President of Pioneer Insurance Group, the event underscored the remarkable potential of the younger generation in the world of filmmaking.
It also highlighted the creativity and passion with which Gen Z expresses their stand on various social issues.
